Broadway travel with a medical condition

If you happen to be among the many older vacationers who enjoy the theater, a trip to Broadway can be a richly rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable experience.  The performance and production quality are second to none, and the atmosphere is unforgettable.  While many seniors are on a fixed income, following a couple of tips can help you get the best deal on your Broadway vacation.

It likely won’t be a surprise to learn that New York is not an inexpensive city to visit.  It’s actually one of the world’s most expensive travel destinations, and you might experience an dull ache in your pocketbook as you start looking in to booking New York travel arrangements.  Don’t worry – Broadway travel deals are available at healthy discounts if you plan far enough in advance.

It is key to begin your travel planning as far in ahead of your departure date as you can.  Booking in advance can save you a bit of time, effort, and expense (although this isn’t always the case, depending on whether you’re traveling during peak season).  Start your planning for a Broadway vacation long before you’d like to depart to help lower expense and stress.

You’ll hopefully find a good deal on your Broadway vacation by starting early, but you will inevitably end up spending a bit of cash on your holiday.  Consequently, it is best to consider a holiday insurance plan, which will protect you from financial loss in case an unforeseen expense pops up while you’re on your vacation.  If you have any health issues, be sure to talk to your agent specifically about travel insurance for pre existing medical conditions, as you’ll need to disclose all the details to be on the safe side.

Planning for your trip to Broadway well in advance, and insuring your vacation investment with a holiday insurance policy, are great ways to keep cost and risk at a minimum.

Travel iPhone Apps Review. What is the Trend?

February 23, 2011 · Posted in Travel Aps · Comment

With the rise of the “Check In” and Geo Tagging, lets take a look at the new direction of the iphone travel app trend.

At last check the Apple iTuneswas just pushing 300,000 apps.   We did not even try to get the tally for the Android market.  We tried to nail  down how many travel related apps there were and we wanted to gouge out our eyes at about 5,000.  That being said there were some very useful applications that really do assist and help the traveler to do what they love.

Weather it is converting currencies while you are on international business, needing to track exactly how many miles you drove for work in one year, or finding the next great place to eat in a town you have never been to,  there seems to be a trend going on.  User generated data, or crowd sourcing as it has been called is the wave of the future.  With the rise of foursquare,  the Geo tagging capabilities of Twitter and now Facebook Places.  Putting the marker in the hand of the user seems to be where we are heading.   This is not a bad thing at all, in fact there is huge money to be made in advertising dollars from vendors utilizing the check in that it seems like if your not on that train, you might get run over!

This is all great fun and there seems to be an attraction to the gaming aspect of the whole thing but we did find a couple applications that left us a little better than before we had them.  These are not so much game centered but had a real value in learning something. MyCampMate was a great one that users were able to create a friends list (or what they called Mates) and create any trip that you wanted and add the friends of your choosing to that trip.  While on that trip everyone can see each other and they are able to drop a pin on the map and now that pin is public and the community can learn from it. As well they are able to and encouraged to add to the comments and updates to that pin.  Great concept and as the user count climbs you will be able to go anywhere and know the local insider knowledge.

Around Me is another great app that finds your location via the devices GPS and tells you what is around the area and how to get there.  If your spot is not there, you can add it to the list.  Similar concept to MyCampMate, but MyCampMate is focused more on the smaller spots and experiences than the big box stores.

Both of these apps as well the trend of the user having the ability to add to the conversation and share their favorite spot is a great move in the right direction and evolution of travel apps and the travel industry as a whole.

Escape To The Caribbean For Your Next Vacation

February 22, 2011 · Posted in Visit Caribbean · Comment

If you’re looking for good escape you may want to consider taking a trip to the Caribbean. The Caribbean islands are located in the off of the coast of Florida. In most cases you will need a valid US passport. Most people choose to plan their Caribbean vacations in the wintertime. People who suffer from wintertime depression issues can benefit from spending a week in a sunny area.

One of the reasons people choose this part of the world is due to the fact that it is relatively to the USA. You can reach most Caribbean resort areas by airplane such as Delta, United Airlines, and Northwest. There many different ways you can find vacation travel packages. Always make sure that you read the fine print so that you are not blindsided by any sort of hidden charges. For example always make sure to ask about things such as gratuity charges, taxes, resort fees, etc.

in order to maximize your savings, you may want to consider visiting an all-inclusive Caribbean resort. You can consider trips to places such as Sandals in Jamaica. Sandals is a very well-known chain for all inclusive vacations. One of the reasons why people prefer going to the Caribbean for vacations is because of the fact that the flight is relatively close compared to other exotic destination such as Fiji. While Fiji is beautiful, unfortunate flight to see you from the United States is over 16 hours and involves multiple layovers.

If you’re thinking about planning a vacation to the Caribbean, one of the best things you can do is subscribe directly to the airline website e-mail list. Most major airlines have special airfare offers which are first released to e-mail list subscribers. This is a marketing tactic used by airlines in order to encourage loyalty and build their brand.
