Las Vegas is a great place for a bachelor party, and here’s a great picture of a fun loving guy and his buddies having a great time on their Las Vegas vacation.   Here’s a salute to Ivan and Navi from Vancouver, Washington, and all the wonderful (and handsome!) men that accompanied Ivan to Las Vegas for his bachelor party January 31, 2009.  Sorry we didn’t get to meet you Navi, we wish you the very best in your upcoming March 14th wedding!  It sure looked like Ivan and his buddies were having some good, clean fun in Las Vegas!  What a great bachelor party theme idea!  Here’s a picture of my friend Mary with Ivan and his buddies!  The guys were parading around Caesars Palace near the Fall of Atlantis Fountain and Aquarium.  Navi was wearing a dress, and his buddies had a black marker, inviting people to sign Navi’s dress!  It was a riot, what a fun bachelor party theme!

Napa Valley Restuarants, Winemaking, and Fun!

October 26, 2010 · Posted in girlfriend getaways, Group Travel Ideas, Visit California · Comment

Napa Valley is considered to be the heart of California wine country and there is no better place to plan a fun and relaxing girls getaway for a group of gal pals. This beautiful area in the northern portion of the state is known for luxurious accommodations, fine dining opportunities and fun activities that will make any vacation a memorable one.

Napa Valley restaurants are some of the best found anywhere in the state. All Seasons Bistro serves up gourmet meals spotlighting regional foods and seasonal produce. Experienced and talented chefs cook up delectable meals including risotto, scallops, monk fish and lobster.

Wine tasting is a popular activity in this area. In addition to sampling fine wines, visitors will learn about the process of wine making. Interactive tours let participants clip grape vines, analyze the sugar content in a wine sample and cork bottles. This makes for an interesting and fun afternoon for a group of friends.

River Terrace Inn offers plush accommodations and a daily breakfast buffet that will give you the fuel you need to get through the rest of the day. Adjoining rooms are available that allow you to spread out when it is time to have fun but still have privacy whenever you want it.

You and the girls can pack a picnic lunch and head to one of the many parks for a dining experience al fresco. Breathtaking scenery, peaceful surroundings and convenient picnic facilities can be found at several area parks and vineyards.

These are just a few ideas for a weekend visit to wine country. Reserve a luxurious room at one of the many area resorts and make sure you indulge in a fine meal at a Napa Valley restaurant. Take some time to review the various options and plan a fun vacation getaway today.

Visiting Indiana: The Spirit Of Jasper Train Ride

The Spirit of Jasper is a restored passenger train that runs scenic tourist excursions. The train is based at the Jasper Train Depot in Jasper, Indiana. The train is made up of various historic cars and an engine that have been restored. The train runs two regular excursion routes. The train ride is a great way for the whole family to enjoy the scenery of Dubois County from the climate controlled comfort of restored historic train cars.

The engine that normally pulls the Spirit of Jasper is a General Electric diesel-electric switch engine originally made in 1956. The #200 Club Car dates back to the 1940s and was converted into a passenger car in 2009. The #300 Lounge Car was originally a coffin car that carried the bodies of soldiers that died in World War I to their hometowns for burial. The #400 Parlour Car’s historical use was as a military hospital car.

One of the excursions the Spirit of Jasper runs is the Jasper to French Lick Express. This route is 25 miles each way. It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes each way. There is a two and a half hour stop in French Lick for passengers to enjoy nearby attractions before the train ride back to Jasper. Highlights of this route include going through the second longest train tunnel in Indiana and the historic French Lick Train Depot, which houses the Indiana Railway Museum.

The second excursion option is the Jasper Ride & Dine. This is an 18 mile route that starts and ends at the Jasper Train Depot. As passengers enjoy the scenery they are served dinner. The dinner is catered by the local authentic German cuisine restaurant called Schnitzelbank. The exact menu varies, but usually includes a few entrée options, sides, and dessert. The Japser Ride & Dine scenic train ride lasts about two and a half hours.

Groups can also charter the Spirit of Japser by chartering a whole car for a schedule train excursion or the whole train for an excursion when there are no scheduled departures. The Spirit of Jasper also occasionally offers special excursions, such as the one hour round trip rides that run during the Strassenfest in August.
